DEATH FOR FIVE VOICES

 

The extraordinary life and music of Don Carlo Gesualdo, Principe di Venosa. Extracts from contemporary documents are combined with a broad selection of his music.

 

For the 400th anniversary of the composer's death this programme can be combined with a showing of Werner Herzog's Italia-Prize- winning film "Death for Five Voices" in which Gerald Place and the Gesualdo Consort appear. This is by special arrangement with Werner Herzog Filmproduktion. A unique mixed-media entertainment for both music and film festivals.

 

 

 

THE GESUALDO CONNECTION

 

The music of Gesualdo through the eyes of composers and writers down the years, including  Nenna, Stradella, Fontanelli, Burney, Warlock, Harris, Stravinsky and Maxwell Davies.

 

 

ANCIENT AND MODERN
